“My journey into the Amazon and to the Tumbira community was nothing short of magic. An immersive experience in every form and manner in which I was able to encounter wonders and experiences that had previously been inconceivable to me. Every day I was in awe of the beauty of the forest and the strength of river, as well as the abundance of life that stems from both.

 

What I enjoyed most about the immersive learning course was that it encompassed a completely sensory experience - from hearing the sounds of the forest, listening to stories of the people, touching trees that were larger than life, seeing birds I only knew from books and films, tasting fruit that looked like it's from another planet and smelling the damp forest that is teeming with life.

 

It was incredibly special to have the opportunity to be a part of the Tumbira community and learn from those who live within and depend on the forest. Hearing the stories of the people from the community about their journeys and hardships, as well as hopes and dreams for their families and community was not only eye-opening but also humbling and inspiring. 

From sunrise swims with dolphins, eating fresh fish from the river, making traditional Amazonian meals, learning to craft my own works of art from wood that was sustainably harvested, sleeping in hammocks, learning from masters, and building memories and lasting friendships - nothing short of magic.”
